EyeCon is a motion sensing application that is developed for performance and installation art. It allows automated analysis of video images to trigger and control digital media like Midi, Sound and video.
A video signal is fed into the computer and the video image appears on the computer screen. Using the mouse, one draws lines or fields in various colors over the video image. If a person touches one of the these imaginary lines or moves within one of the fields, something happens, for example, a certain sound might be heard. This is the basic principle of Touchlines and Dynamic Fields. Tracking does calculate the position of dancers. Thus, in contrast to Touchlines or Dynamic Fields, it is the abslolute or relative positions of the dancers which are important. Various kinds of media output can be assigned to touchlines or dynamic fields.
